IAmWondaWoman is a nonprofit organization formulated to strengthen and reinforce the minds of the youth within the community, with a primary focus on inner-city adolescent girls. We uphold our mission to MENTOR, EMPOWER, and MOTIVATE while ADVOCATING for the necessary resources to promote self-love and self-esteem. We Also focus on MENTAL HEALTH Awareness, FINANCIAL LITERACY, HOLISTIC HEALING, and HEALTH & WELLNESS for our youth, as well as our community.
Our vision entails the development of their long-term goals in life, and then relating their long-term goals to short-term tasks to assist and encourage growth and self-fulfillment.
We educate them on the importance of hygiene and safe sex, as well as the negative effects of drugs, alcohol, and bullying. Subsequently, we assess and evaluate where and how they can improve as individuals, while also allowing them a voice to provide insight and elaborate on their perspectives. Concisely, we promote a positive outlook on life that’s realistically attainable to them.
We believe that the youth is more receptive to listening when lead with MOTIVATION and through a process we have coined 'EDUTAINMENT'
{Edutainment: The ability to educate through Entertainment}
Tea With Teens: A Beautiful Me is a motivational mentorship and empowerment program that advocates for at risk teen-aged girls and young ladies in the foster care system. We promote self-esteem, ambition and confidence within the young ladies through discussion of the importance of inner beauty and self-love, and we educate them with proper etiquette lessons. We conduct 'present and future aspirations' workshops with them and provide information and sessions with specialists on everything from their career goals to hygiene and sex education. Through group and individual engagements, our objective is to ultimately encourage them to achieve and realize their full potential.
The ACS Empowerment Seminar encourages youth career preparation. Within our seminars we identify resources in the community and online that motivate, assist and support their search for employment. We provide information on obtaining the skill set to attain the jobs through vocational & trade schools. We discuss the diversity of various professions vs. salary. We engage in conversation regarding the road map to success by requesting that they set daily goals, short-term goals and long-term goals. We also supply them with sample cover letters to apply for jobs, sample resumes to formulate their own, and sample thank you letters.
We actively advocate for the community by using our voice alongside community leaders, to speak up on the injustice within our culture and community. We aren't afraid to step on the frontline to battle racial profiling, police brutality, social inequality, women's rights, lack of resources, and so many other issues our community continuously faces. We rally together and encourage influential individuals and corporations to do what is right and what is best for the individuals within our community. We encourage everyone, especially our youth that their voice matters and helps us to make a difference.
